Psalm 27:7-14
7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.
I believe our hearts were made to seek the Lord. Will we follow our heart and seek Him, or will we follow a counterfeit… something else we think will satisfy?’
11 Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
Lord, teach us to stay on the path to you. There is only one. Our enemies will try to entice us to take a detour, or get off the path into the thickets and thorns, but we must stay on the path. His Light will guide us.
13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
I will see the goodness of the Lord IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING…. IN THIS LIFE… NOT JUST AFTER I DIE. God is Good all the time…and, …. All the time, God is Good.
What does it mean to seek His face?
It is more than being an acquaintance.
It is more than being in the same place at the same time.
It is more than reading about Him, following His teachings.’
Face to face. I see / feel His pleasure or displeasure. I see how He feels about me. Without Jesus that would be very risky to say the least.
Face to face implies an intimate relationship.
Father God, I seek your face. Know me completely. I rest in Your arms.
