Matthew 20:30-34
Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
These guys were calling for Jesus, loudly. Jesus says “what do you want me to do for you?” I would think it would have been obvious, but Jesus still asked. If I had one request, what would it be?
Sometimes, I know; sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I just want him to “fix it”. Sometimes, I’m glad he didn’t give me what I asked for.
Psalm 25:4-5
Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
I need to remember to ask the Lord for direction each day. I get so wrapped up in what I “need” to do, I neglect asking Him what He wants me to do.
